Opening the TweedCase (September 07 2009)

The Tweed Case website is now officially open!  We are pleased to announce that musicians can now create their free accounts at http://www.tweedcase.com and you can start uploading information about your instruments and gear as well as song clips and articles about your music, your gear or your experiences as a musician or a collector of instruments. The idea is simple. I love collecting guitars, basses and other gear. They are works of art that can create works of art. It also helps that they represent a lifestyle that is compelling and exciting. On top of that, though, I love looking at other people's instruments and hearing their stories about how they got it, where they played it, the remarkable sounds they can get with it and so much more. I was over at the Gibson website and I noticed a post in their Lifestyle section called Geek Out: Five Essential iPhone Applications for Musicians.  If you have an iPhone and you haven't seen it yet you should definitely check it out.  My favorite of the bunch is Agile Partners Guitar Toolkit.  In addition to being a great pocket reference for scales and chords, it is also a very handy tuner which is particularly useful with my new 12 string, but having a tuner in my pocket is just a great    more >


There are two important dates for the instruments in your collection.  The day you brought it home is probably the most important date for both of you, but the date that it was manufactured, or at least the year, is very important in knowing what you actually have and how much it is worth in the long run. One of the reasons that we started working on Tweed Case was that we love guitars and we love to see what other musicians and collectors have bought and what they’ve done to make them even better.  We can talk about that all we want in forums but this is one of the best examples of the old adage “a picture is worth 1000 words” but to really convey the beauty and style of an instrument we need to make sure the pictures themselves are the best they can be.
